Cranes are used for raising and lowering materials (usually heavy ones) and are frequently used in the construction and heavy equipment manufacturing industries.

In this article, we’ll discuss a variety of cranes and provide a bit of info on how heavy these can lift.

Loader crane

These are also known as ‘articulated crane’ or ‘knuckle-boom crane’.

Loader cranes are truck-mounted and powered by hydraulics. This type comes with an articulated arm that’s attached to a trailer. The lifted materials are placed onto the trailer connected to it, making them conducive to transport.

It’s possible to fold the crane into a smaller piece so it can be stored in a small space when it’s not in use.

An excellent make of truck-mounted loader cranes is HMF cranes. It’s greatly hard-wearing and it can handle any lifting task.

If you’re looking for one that will suit your budget, you can speak with a certified distributor of high-quality used Hiab cranes to obtain a piece that will get the job done.

Telescopic crane

This is a type of crane that’s mainly used for moving objects from one place to another. The crane is placed on top of a truck that will be driven to a place where the load is to be transported.

A telescopic crane has a boom with tubes positioned inside one another. Again, with the mechanism of hydraulics, the boom can extend or contract to suit the operation.

Because of their flexibility and ability to adjust in height, these cranes are frequently used in conveying procedures as well as maneuvering operations in ports.

Tower crane

These are employed for lifting a variety of building materials like concrete and steel. It can carry up to 18 metric tonnes.

These are commonly found in major constructions like tall buildings, as their ability to elevate and outstretch to hundreds of feet are designed to handle these operations.

A common question amongst beginners is why it doesn’t fall over, in spite of its immense height and function. Here’s how it works: the tower crane is supported by an extremely heavy concrete band which is secured with huge bolts.

Using the proper type of crane will get your construction project a long way. Stay tuned for more articles on construction and heavy machinery!
